Bindi Balls
These beautiful ‘Bindi Balls’ are a balance of all 6 tastes according to Ayurveda – Sweet, Salty, Pungent, Astringent, Bitter and Sour. They are a wonderful treat to enjoy in winter and will keep your digestive fire, or agni, burning bright through the cooler months.
You Need;
1 & 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp fennel seeds
2 cloves, crushed in a mortar and pestle
pinch of turmeric
pinch of salt
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup sunflower seeds
1 Tbsp Ghee/organic butter
1 Tbsp Honey
10 Medjool dates
To prepare;
Dry toast all of your spices, in a fry pan, until fragrant. Add in ghee/butter, when melted add the coconut and seeds and pour over the honey, toast until browned.
Blend dates well until a sticky mix forms. Add in the coconut spice mix, blend until just combined, you should have a wet sticky mix. Roll into balls and refrigerate.
