Go get ’em tiger
Is there something you have always wanted to do, but never made the time for? Or something you know you need to give up, but are too reliant upon it to go without? Get off your butt and do something about it, no seriously, just do it. Have a good hard look at yourself and grow some will power. Ask yourself some tough questions, like do you really want to be a ‘gunna’ person? Or if you were told you are going to die next week, would you have any regrets? Because this is it people, this is life and if you want to live it then now is the time because tomorrow never comes.
Some of us are happy simply being in the moment, while others are more focused on what is ahead. While I would like to say I am completely an ‘in the moment’ kind of girl, I really am the latter. I am at my best when I have a goal in sight, whether it be in my health, career or personal life, things flow better for me when there is a target I am aiming towards. Just between you and I, I can be lazy. If left to my own devices I would sleep late, watch loads of crappy TV series/read chick lit and eat a lot of nut butter straight from the jar, but none of this would make me very happy in the long term. So I set goals. My husband likes to call me the ‘Queen of deprivation’ but I like to see it more as me testing my limits and not relying on things that could allow me to fall into bad habits.
We all have things that are working in life, and those that are not, and rather than constantly focusing on what you are not happy with just go out and do something about it! Stop wasting time wishing you were something you are not, it is in your control to change so now is the moment.
I’m sure most of you have read up on how to goal set, and this is not your everyday vanilla ‘goal setting’ blog, however below are listed some things to do to help you stay on track.
1. Continuously look at what you are becoming reliant upon…
Coffee and too many raw sweet treats/nut butter are my main falling points so I catch myself when they are creeping into my daily life. I don’t want to need anything, other than fresh air, water, fruit n veggies and yoga! So I keep an eye on habits that I’m not happy about and nip them in the bud. Generally I’ll say ok no more for 3 weeks, the first few days are a struggle but then I get over it and start to feel better. Call me QoD (Queen of Deprivation!) if you want but I want to spend my days feeling light and content, not being weighed down by crap.
2. If there is something you want to do/somewhere you want to go/something you want to achieve, go about making it happen…
As mentioned above, life is meant to be lived. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being content never leaving your home town and going to the same job every day until you die, but there are big issues in doing that and complaining about it. I am not wealthy, I am not extremely smart, but I am determined, and this will get you wherever you want to go. Simply make a decision that this is it, this is what I want to do, and go about the means of planning, saving and making it happen. It’s that simple.
3. Be mindful when something in life is not working…
I have had jobs that have clearly been not what I want to be doing, so I start putting it out into the universe that it is time to let this go, I sit with the thought of letting it go and moving on, then I do it. If you find yourself in an unhappy relationship, or craving the company of like minded people then the first step is becoming aware that you have a problem. Life is busy, and we all have days when our partners annoy us, but taking the time for each other may be all you need to do to improve this part of your life. If you hate your job, then check out what else is out there, think about your passions and how you could pursue them, or look at studying. There are ways out of unhappiness, often all we need is some space around the issue to see that it can be resolved.
