Connect to your Core
When you visualize your centre where does it reside?
Can you feel it not just physically but physiologically and energetically?
It’s totally normal if you cannot, and also very ok if you don’t even know what that all means!
Our centre or ‘core’ means different things to different people, it may be that when you think of your core your mind goes to your heart or your third eye (between the eyebrows) and there is never a wrong or right but I, of course, can only explain what it means to me in my words….
My centre rests between my belly button and pubis bone and I connect to it through bandhas, or locks. By drawing in through my pelvic floor muscles and the deep internal abdominal muscles I can feel strong through my midsection but also it creates a feeling of lightness through my entire body. To go deeper into this activation I focus on my breath, as I inhale I draw in through ‘mula bandha’ or the pelvic floor lock, also known as the root lock. On the exhale I draw in and lift up through the belly button and feel a hollowing through my stomach which is also know as ‘uddiyana bandha’, this means flying up.
After feeling into this sensation of core for a while now I am discovering it is so much more than a simple muscle activation, it is where our life force stems from and where we hold all that is precious to us.
When I feel I cannot properly draw in my core I know something, somewhere in my body or life is out of balance. So by being in tune with this subtle energy centre we can listen to our bodies messages more clearly and act before illness or fatigue sets in.
I’m so excited to run the next 4 Saturday classes focusing on ‘Connecting to your Core’ not just to teach the basic principles but to reconnect myself, I am the worst culprit of hearing what my body is telling me but ignoring it. I hope to reignite the fire burning in my belly and to listen to what core beliefs come to the surface when I take some precious time to realign with my centre energy.
